..................................... North Wall Kitchen Cabinets

.....

................

The first of the wall cabinets I built were the ones over the stove on the north wall of the kitchen. I basically used 1 X 2's and 1/2 inch plywood, CDX and "Good One Side". The center section is higher for the hood over the stove. I built it first and then added the two side cabinets using a common side between the middle cabinet and the side cabinets. The picture above shows how I would start the construction by screwing 1 X 2's to the CDX plywood sides.

................

Next I screwed CDX to the top of the frame and "Good One Side" to the bottom of the frame to close in the cabinet. I put vertical pieces of 1 X 2's on each side of the cabinets and placed holes in them every 1 1/2 inches for adjustable shelf supports.

.................

Here is the finished framework before I made the facing and doors for the front. The wide boards are there so I can screw through them into the facing on the front that will have the hinges for the cabinet doors.

.................

At this point I have faced the ends of the cabinet and added the facing to the front along with the doors.

................

Next I put two coats of Polyurethane on the wood, inside and outside. After that dried I screwed the cabinets to the wall.

................

The finished cabinets. I still have to put a shelf or two in to the left of the cabinets and above the frig. That will give some more storage and also stiffen up the short wall to the left of the frig.
