I soon found out that the truck throws rocks at the trailer which of course result in rock chips. I was able to live with them for a while until I had to go through about 60 miles of snow covered roads by Flagstaff, AZ. Now the snow wasn't a problem, but they had covered the snow with volcanic pumice to aid in traction. This took the fronts of my fenders and the lower front corners of the trailer down to bare metal. I repainted the fenders and decided it was time to do something. So I build the aluminum rock guards seen in the pictures above and below. I made the ones on the fenders easily removable, but don't really mind the looks of them, so they will most likely stay on at car shows and the such. If you are building a trailer and it is painted this will be a problem for you. If you take the trailer off of paved roads it will for sure be a problem painted or not.
