..............................Finishing the Gas Pump Overhang
.....
.................
After the snow we had a couple days of sun and the roof dried off enough for me to go ahead and put the metal roofing on. First came the drip edge along the edges and then rolled roofing followed by the metal roofing which is screwed down. Then I put a dark brown facia metal flashing on to protect the facia from the weather.
.................
Next came the large parapet wall or facia that will surround the roof. It is made from 2X4's on 16 inch centers with 1/2 inch wafer board glued and nailed to the 2X4's. It will also get more 1/2 inch wafer board on the outside once all the sections are bolted and nailed into place. The front section is screwed and nailed to the front truss and the two beams.
.................
The side sections along with the front section were lifted into place with the jeep. It took a little figuring to get these in the right locations.
.................
The side sections were bolted and nailed to the side of the building and also bolted and nailed to the front section. The side sections are about 6-8 inches out from the metal roof, so that snow and/or rain will run off behind these facia pieces.
.................
At this point I stopped for a couple weeks and finished the greenhouse which you've seen.
..
Saturday the 15th of March I put in 2 1/2 hours before going to work at the store and got the sheathing around the top of the gas pump overhang. A storm is coming, so I'm trying to finish some of the outside items up. Next for the front will be the trim around the top of the building and around the gas pump overhang. Inside of the trimmed area I'll put 1/2 inch sign board which will be painted and eventually lettered with gas station orientated verbiage.
.................
At this point I now have the exterior of building completed and sheathed. During this time I have also been doing wiring inside and have it probably half done. I have the power from the outside meter and box over to the main box inside the house (shop area). I've run all the 220 volt wiring in the shop and all of the overhead light wiring and some of the wiring to the outlets. I needed to finish the greenhouse so I could run the wiring from the shop area into the greenhouse and also out onto the pump overhang for lighting on the front of the building.
I'll start on the outside vinyl siding soon to get the wafer board covered up and at the same time will be working on the inside. I can feel things starting to come together.
