...............................Doors, Windows and Garage Doors

.....

.................

Winter was here and thankfully it was pretty mild, but I still wanted to try and get the building closed in as soon as possible. Looking at the front of the building you can see the island for the fake gas pumps. The two holes above the window are where the beams for the gas pump overhang will fit into the building. As soon as I hang some sheetrock in the garage I will be able to install the garage doors. That is the next step.

.................

Here you can see that I stripped the forms for the attached greenhouse. The door on the right will be access to the greenhouse from the shop area. There will be some openings from the greenhouse to the shop for the purpose of heating the shop. There will also be a door on the left side of the greenhouse to allow entry from the outside.

.................

The door on the right is to get into the shop. The door to the left of it is the main entry into the house through the sunroom. The other door by the large windows is into the sunroom. By the two right doors there will be a cement pad for the entranceway.

.................

Hopefully the sunroom will provide most of the daytime heat for the living quarters of the house. We will have a patio in front of the sunroom.

.................

The windows on the west side of the house.

This work was completed before December 24th, 2002. I didn't get much done in December with a trip to Missouri, the holidays and a cold.

.................

Well it is now January, 2003 and I got about 1/2 the sheetrock hung for the ceiling in the shop area (see next page). This allowed me to install the garage doors seen in the picture above and below.

.................

The instructions for the garage doors (made by Clopay) were quite complicated and I didn't look forward to putting up the doors, especially the part where you have to wind the spring that raises the doors. Well they actually went up pretty easy and the spring winding only took a few minutes. I installed the doors by myself and it would have been nice to have a second pair of hands, but all in all it wasn't bad. I'd recommend the doors to someone else. I got them from Home Depot and they are the commercial model 600 doors.
