..........................................--- Inside Pictures When Purchased ---
.....................................................................--- January 2009 ---
We had no other experience with sailboats or any other boats other than I have a lot of river miles in my canoe when we bought this Mac. It was one of the cleanest ones I saw searching the Internet for a couple months and when our friend Sparky looked at it in Phoenix and told us how nice it was we jumped on the chance to buy it. Looking at the following pictures you can see we weren't disappointed when we first saw the boat in real life.
..............A view of the large rear berth under the cockpit area. The Mac really shines in this department.
..............
The forward V-berth. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't longer than it is. Anyone 6 foot tall is going to have problems there and you definitely won't get two 6 footers up there. We are use to the standard size bed we have in our teardrop trailer and we are considering removing the room for the porta-pottie and extending the V-berth back towards the galley with storage for cloths in shelves on the wall opposite the galley. If we did that then this would probably become our bedroom on the boat. The ventilation should be better with the hatch and it would be more cozy than the huge aft bed. More on this down the road.
Note: The v-berth was enlarged. To see how click ( HERE )

The head with the door open........

........ and inside with the porta-pottie. We feel this is a huge waste of space on a boat this size for a need that only occupies maybe 15 minutes out of the day. If we remove the head and enlarge the V-berth I'll post those modifications.
..............
The galley. Another area that will see extensive .
..............
The starboard seat in the galley.
..............
And the port seat that stretches from the galley area all the way back to the V-berth. We anticipate shortening this seat to the same length as the starboard seat opposite it and using the rest of the room rearward for the ice cooler, storage, and the expanded V-berth.

A view looking down into the boat from the cockpit. The floor was clean before I started tracking dirt into it from the mud and snow we had in January.
..............
This view shows the pop-top in the up position.
..............
The Mac came with this pop-top cover that I assume was an original option. It is better than nothing, but the sealing along the bottom leaves a lot to be desired especially in our climate were there are huge extremes between night time lows and day highs in the spring and fall. The other major drawback is no screening for those hot summer nights when there are mosquitoes in the air.
..............
Here the cover is close and I can't believe the zippers only have pulls on the outside. A real pain while trying to close them from the inside. We bought a '50's industrial Singer sewing machine and Ruth is quite the seamstress, so we hope to make a custom pop-top on the boat later.

A side view of the cover..............and.............

............a view from the cabin. Don't get me wrong is is better than nothing and we are glad we have it, but this boat is going to be a cruiser for us with hopefully a lot of nights on board and we want to address some of the issuses on the boat that make it more of a weekend boat and turn it into a boat we can be comfortable on for extended trips and cruises.

The cockpit along with the cushions that came with the boat and my dirty foot prints.
