..............We purchased out Mac 26S from its previous owner in Phoenix with only seeing pictures of it.
..............
We have a good friend there that we race with at Bonneville that use to have a 37 foot sailboat in Florida and he looked the boat over for us.
..............
When he called me he asked how old the boat was and I told him a 1990. He couldn't believe that it was that old as it was in such nice shape. He and his wife were coming up to visit us, so....
..............
...we wired him the money for the boat and he paid cash for it and they towed it from Phoenix up to our place in Blanding, UT, which is in SE Utah about 90 miles east of Lake Powell and 70 miles south of Moab and about 70 miles north of Monument Valley. Thanks Bill and Linda, you are great friends.
..............
The boat came with an Ida Sailor rudder and Ida Sailor swing centerboard and four sails....
..............
....a main, jib, genoa, and a spinnaker. Also a Pop Top Cover, Honda 8 HP outboard, swim ladder and rear railing along with a stock Macgregor trailer with no brakes. We plan on updating the trailer with tandem axles and stainless steel disk brakes. The Mac also came with an anchor, a porta pottie, battery, VHF radio, compass and a depth finder and speedo.
..............................
Sparky, our friend, helped us step the mast and we raised the main and the jib. That was a big help. The next day we did all of that twice more to familiarize ourselves with stepping the mast and raising the sails. The first time I just pushed the mast up, but since I'm 65 that wasn't real fun. Then we used the Macgregor gin pole and the winch and that went real easy and is what we will use. I can do that all by myself if needed.
..............
We hope to take the Mac, which we will call the KeraJane after Ruth's two daughters, out to Lake Powell in March or else a small lake just outside of town. Soon I'll try and post some interior pictures, but it is pretty much a stock Mac inside right now. We plan on changing that. We are both retired, mid 60's, and this is our first sailboat. We really look forward to learning something new.
