.............................--- Doug's 91 S Centerboard Info ---
...........

The MacGregor S's (1990 to 1995) have a swing centerboard. There are two different procedures for accessing the pin that the centerboard pivots on depending if you have an early S or a later S. The later S's you access the pin from inside the cabin. The early S's you access the pivot pin the the outside bottom of the boat as the pictures below will show. I'll let Doug tell the rest of the story, and thanks Doug for making the photos available and you guys that are reading this should visit Doug's great Mac Site, Sum.

That's an Idasailor centerboard by the way. You can see the SS pin which fits into holes in those brackets. Those brackets are bolted on. The big holes are for access to the nuts inside. The chambers are isolated from the inside of the hull and the ballast tank, they don't even need to be sealed. Plugs go over the holes, just to cover them up.

Here's what it looks like with everything removed.

Doug and I are curious about the later version S's with the access plates inside. If you have pictures and would like them posted here please e-mail them to me.

The picture above by Bob Hussey shows how to remove the nuts that hold the brackets on for the pivot pin with a bent wrench,
