................................--- Rearend on Surface Plate ---

...................

Here is the rear with the half shafts attached to the center section on the surface plate at ride height as determined by the diameter of my tires (25.4 inches). The axle center is 12 and 11/16 inches off of the surface. The pillow boxes are rotated so they face the front of the car and are how they will be orientated in the car. You can also see the centerline I've marked going down the center of the surface plate. That and being able to reference off of the table sides makes layout of the parts pretty fast. I'm glad I spent the couple hours making this table.

................

In the following pictures I've rolled the motor into it's position. It is close to the height that it will be located at in the car. The two inner pieces of wood laying to each side of the motor on the table indicate the outside width of the motor. The other stick to the left will be the outside of the body and the stick to the right will be the body width on that side (22 inches side to side). The motor will offset in the body to the right.

..................

This shows everything from the right side. You can see the outer hub assembly that I machined flat on the top and bottom. I need to make a-arms attaching/locating it to the final frame.

...............

A 3/4's view from the left. I'll be looking to see if I can shorten the left half shaft by about 1 1/2 inches in the area where the duct tape is. That would center the body in the track width. This is necessary as the motor is offset to the right some to align the drive chain from the motor with the rear drive sprocket. I can compensate some for the offset by offsetting the body to the left of the motor as I mentioned above. The motor is only 19 inches wide, but I feel I'll need at least a 22 inch width for me in the cockpit. That will move the body about 3 inches towards the left side tires. If I can shorten the left half shaft a little then the body will be center on the tires and the rearend will offset a little to the left in the body.

And a final view from the right side. I'm excited about finally seeing some parts laid out in relation to each other. Probably doesn't look like much to you, but I finally feel like some progress has been made.
