For the clutch and throttle linkage I wanted to use the original cables and hook them to rods that will go forward in the car to the clutch and gas pedal. I figured with engine changes in the future it might be easier to just go to what ever engine I wanted, get cables for it and hook them to this linkage.

I started by putting piece of round stock in the lathe and cleaning up the end and drilling and tapping it for threaded 1/4 inch rod.

The rod will go into the threaded hole on the left side and these other holes are where the end of the cable will attach. The cable has a cylinder shaped piece attached to the end of the cable like all bike cables do. It will end up in the large hole that has been chamfered in the picture. The small holes are the start of where the cable will go. This piece was then cut .......

.......... from the end of the round stock and more holes were drilled in the end. The reasons for the holes is I had to slot this out for the cable and didn't have a 1/8 inch end mill.

I then took a double ended bit and ground one end flat hoping to make an end mill out of it.

Using the bit and very small cuts of just a couple thousands each I was then able to mill the slot in by cutting from hole to hole. I had to take small cuts, but still was done with this in a few minutes.

Here is the finished piece (still needs to be cleaned up a little).

I took some 1/4 inch round stock of the length I wanted and threaded the end of it.

The threaded rod is on the left and you can see how the cable attaches. Now for a piece to hold the cable housing on the right.

These pieces were made to accomplish that. The four on the left side will hold the end of the cable housing and will be bolted to the one on the right that will be welded to the frame rails. The slotted hole in the bottom piece is for the cable to go through and the hole is just large enough to allow the very first part of the cable housing to go through before it butts up against the hole.

Here the 4 pieces have been welded together and bolted to the frame bracket.

Now the whole works is attached to the frame. The left arrow points to a vertical piece that the cable will be zip tied to to hold it in place. The right arrow points to a guide for the rod and the middle arrow points to two nuts locked together that will hit the guide when the clutch pedal is pressed to the point where the clutch is released. Phil thought this would be good so as to not get carried away with the clutch pedal and maybe bending something in the clutch mechanism. Good idea Phil.
