12 JUL 09 -- Night's Anchorage -- South side of Reddy Bay
( N. 48o 36.834' -- W. 116o 53.644')
To anyone who sails this day won't seem like much, but remember before this day we had only "tried" to sail for 5 days on a much smaller lake in Colorado and had only succeeded in sailing to an actual destination on the 4th day of that trip.
........
After a good night's sleep and a nice breakfast we put the sails up, but motored out from the previous night's anchorage about 1/4 mile from shore and sat there for a while before a light wind came up.
We then set course for Reddy Bay about 4 miles away in a West Northwest.....
................... direction from 8 Mile Island. We were really hyped when we were able to sail over to a small cove on the south end of Reddy Bay and anchor with no real problems, again with the Bruce on the bow and.........
........
....... a shore line off the stern to a small tree in the dense woods behind us. Off to starboard and nearby was........

............ someone's dock that had escaped them and washed up on the shore here. To the west of us a..........
.........
............... few hundred yards away was a dock for a lone house that was situated on the bay in this area. We had picked this location for the night's anchorage after hearing the weather report that predicted south winds for the night and the next morning.
........
We were interested in replacing the missing turnbuckle on the forestay and needed to figure out a way to get a new one. We checked the cell phone and found out we had one bar. Bad connection and all we were able to reach Ruth's daughter in Penn. and ask her to find the number for Blue Water Yachts who specialize in MacGregor parts. After getting the number and using a local brochure for Priest Lake we called Grandview Marine. They were located about a mile across the lake (dead center in the picture above) and asked if we could have a part sent to them for us. They agreed and we got a hold of BWY and ordered the part.
his is a little better picture of Grandview in the distance with one of the mountain ranges that rings the lake in the back ground.

The following morning...............
........
............we awoke to overcast skies and a very light rain that reminded me of my time in the Seattle area while in the Navy. The rain never got....

........... heavy during the day, but persisted almost all day. Ruth's modifications to the pop-top cover really paid off as we had some ventilation and had no water come in along the sides or front. Part of the day was spent....
