.................................--- Misc. Storage & Toilet Supply Storage ---
..............
Always looking for more places to store things where they would be handy we figured that we could move the fridge slightly back when we mounted it and still have the same access to the inside. This then gave us a small space between it and the starboard cabin seat for some store of misc. items and toiletry items.
I started by cutting a piece of fencing cedar to fit the space. Notice that it isn't right up against the fridge. There should be a free air space along the fridge's sides according to the manufacture.
..............
Next a piece of CDX was cut for the back and hit with a rolok sanding disc in the air die grinder. I've found that I can sand edges and surfaces really fast with this combo. The arrows point to cutouts to clear the fridge mounts (see first picture).
..............
Three uprights for the shelving.
..............
Cutouts on the top to reach the opening hasps for the fridge and cutouts at the bottom again to clear the fridge mounts.
..............
When I'm cutting a radius I look for something that has the radius I'm looking for and then scribe around it with a pencil. In this case the cottage cheese container and a socket did the job.
..............
A hole was added to the bottom for the side vent on the fridge and two of the uprights were screwed on from the back.
..............
Then one high shelf was added.
..............
These pieces in the back space the storage unit out 7/8ths of an inch, the thickness of the cedar I was using.
..............
Here shelves have been added to the right side and the unit is trial fitted. The bottom right side shelf will have to be kept pretty clear for air movement, but something can go down there.

The arrows point to the free air space and ....

Here are some of the items we use in conjunction with the toilet, the double doodie bags explained ( HERE ) some extra powder that we have used with them. Some neutral smelling air freshener and some rug fresher to dump into the toilet after use. It helps some. These items will be easier to reach when the cover is raise over the toilet when it is in use.
..............
To use the toilet you have to raise the seat platform (removed in the picture) to take the sealing lid off of the toilet. At that time you have access to these two storage areas for additional items like more bags and toilet paper.
..............
Before we just stuffed items down in this area above and into the bilge. Now it is a little more organize and...
..............
.... items won't get wet if there is a little water down there. The bottom left arrow points to the the switch that turns the solar panel off if we want to disconnect them from the batteries for some reason. I boxed it in to protect it from storage items. The top arrow points to a terminal strip used for a data line connection point for the NMEA signals to and from the Computer/Chart Plotter/Cuda 350 depth finder with GPS and the VHF radio with DSC.

When the toilet is in use the lower area is easier to get into as the seat platform is raise up.
..............
A view of how the cutouts give easier access to opening the fridge.
..............
The storage it bolted to the floor of the inner-liner and the nuts for the bolts can be reached via the seat area just forward of them.
..............
One final view with of course the seat cushion removed. Ruth is very happy about this little storage area as it makes it easy to store and organize some items used often.
