......................................--- EdgeStar Fridge Mounts ---

..............

The cover board for the storage area under the aft bed on the starboard side was cut into two pieces where the two bottom arrows are. Brackets were made to fit into the channels on the bottom of the EdgeStar (top right arrow.

..............

Here you can see how the simple bracket bent out of aluminum slides into the channel. It still has to be bolted down at this point.

..............

Here the storage cover board has been screwed down to the inner-liner.

..............

Two brackets were made for the front side of the frig (arrows) and they were bolted to the inner-liner. You can reach the one bolt at the ballast fill cover and the other from the storage area under the starboard seat. 3 brackets in told were used. The frig is not going anyplace, even in a knock down.

On our first trip with the frig, Florida Fall 2010, we found that at times it was nice to cut the frig off for the night so that we knew it wouldn't come on an run the batteries down. We would do this if it was cold enough inside the frig and then would turn it back on the next morning when we either had sun on the solar panels or started the gen-set. It was a pain lifting the seat and unplugging it, see the next picture. I drilled a hole where the lower left arrow is above and put in a toggle switch there on the supply line to the plug socket for the frig plug. This worked very well. We carry a 12 volt sears drill, bits, and electrical items like wire, connectors and a few extra toggle switches on board so doing this on the water only took about 30 minutes.

A hole was drilled in the inner liner so that the fridge's power cord plug could pass through it and back under the seat (left bottom arrow) where it is plugged into a female 12 volt socket. I wanted to keep the plug so that the frig could also be used in a vehicle if needed. The right arrow points to the plastic wire .....

...organizer you can buy. It kind of finishes things off, but more important protects the wire from chaffing on the sides of the hole.

..............

The bottom left arrow points to the toggle switch that we put in that I described in the text above. Excuse the mess. This shot was taken on our 7+ week spring of 2011 trip to Florida.
