.............................................................Siding Completed

.....

.................

Finally the exterior of the building is completed. Let's take a tour around the building starting with the front. Below the sign area is the vinyl siding that is used on the whole building. I trimmed most of the front with 2X6's and stained them a dark brown, which also matches the facia trim.

.................

A closer view of the "fake" gas station island. Just waiting for a couple 30's style pumps that I will have to make. later I'll probably bring the concrete out another 6 feet.

.................

This view shows how the greenhouse is attached to the south side. Hopefully it will provide a lot of heat for the shop in the winter.

(Feb. 2005 Note: The greenhouse has really helped in heating the shop. The shop will drop to about 50 at night with no heat and outside temperatures in the teens. The heat from the greenhouse will take it to about 60 and keep it there until night. This was after I insulated the insides of the garage doors. Also the garage part of the shop is not insulated yet on the north wall although I do have a curtain hung over the 12 foot opening into it from the main shop. I started a fire in the wood stove in the shop about 5 times this winter when there was no sun. The house will usually drop about 6 to 8 degrees at night with no heat except for a wood stove that probably burns out by about midnight.)

.................

A closer view of the greenhouse. The poles in front of it are for tomato plants that have just been planted.

Greenhouse.

.................

Another view of the green house and the entry way into the shop and house. Julie has already been busy planting a large flower bed in the foreground.

.................

A better view of the entry way. The right door goes into the shop and the middle door goes into the sunroom and the far left door also goes into the sunroom.

.................

The sunroom as seen from the garden. To the far right you can also see the door into the greenhouse. There is also another door into the greenhouse from the shop.

Later there will be a stone patio in front of the sunroom and it will connect to the other patio.

.................

This view gives you a pretty good idea how the whole south side of the house looks.

.................

A view down the west wall of the house from the garden.

.................

The west wall of the house with the bedroom window on the left, then the living room windows and finally the sunroom window on the right.

.................

The west and north wall, which is in the shade. The grass we planted is coming up next to the house.

.................

The north wall of the building with the bedroom window on the right and the bathroom window to the left. The vents are for the storage room and the shop. I'm able to close them from the inside but they will help ventilate the shop at night during the summer.

.................

Back around to the front again. You can see the electrical entrance box and phone box just down the side from the front. The opening just in front of them is where I'll mount an exhaust fan that I have.

Now that the outside is complete I have to get with it inside. Hope to have that done over the next couple months (this proved to be wishful thinking at the time).
