......................................................................Siding Phase 1
.....
.................
I finally got around to doing some siding in April. I wanted to do the west side first since we wanted to plant grass along this side. I've never done vinyl siding before, but it went pretty well. First came tar paper over the wafer board and then the "J" channel trim pieces around the windows and the corner pieces.
.................
Next came the siding, which just had to be cut to fit. It is in 12 foot sections and I cut the long runs at 4 foot intervals to start the run so that the joints were staggered going up the wall.
.................
You start at the bottom and work up. There is a special piece that goes along the bottom and the first course snaps into it. The other courses snap into the one below and are nailed along the tops with roofing nails. They are not nailed tight so they can expand and contract. There are trim pieces to go around elect. outlets and water faucets.
.................
I also put on the metal facia pieces and the soffets under the eaves.
.................
This was the worst wall to do on the house as it is the largest and tallest with the most windows. I had about 30 hours days on it. I also started down the north side a little ways so I could put in the grass to that point. The rest of the way down the north side is gravel for storage. I'll finish the north last, as the rest of the way on the north side has no windows. If I'm short it will be the easiest to figure what I need to finish.
