Well I wish I could report that I was able to take some time off from construction, but I had to get some landscaping done before the weeds started to come up.
Along the highway sidewalk I spread a sheet of black plastic and covered it with 8 yards of gravel and planted 3 bushes. I still have to finish the area to the right of this over to the new building, but that will come later.

We needed an area to park a camp trailer and a car-hauler trailer, so I put more plastic and gravel down in this 30 foot by 30 foot area on the other end of the lot adjacent to the other road. The two wider openings between the posts will later get gates.
This was another 9 yards of gravel. All together I had to spread 17 yards of gravel by hand for this and the other area as the dump truck was only able to dump it in a couple piles. Lets see 17 yards is about 22 tons, so I had to spread 22 tons or 44,000 lb. of gravel by hand. I was a tired puppy at the end of the day.
I also put in about 40 treated posts around the north and west side of the property. I dug about 8 of the holes with a hand post-hole digger and set the corner posts and ran a string and measured the locations for all the other post and marked them. Then I rented a power post-hole digger and with a friend we drilled the other holes. After that I set the posts and strung chicken wire which is also buried for about 6 inches in the ground. The reason I needed to get this fence up is that there are dozens of prairie dogs living a few feet away and without the fence they would be in the soon to be planted garden just past the graveled area.
Later this will become a privacy fence when I get the time to finish it. That is the reason for the 4 X 4 poles. I wanted to get them in while the ground is still easier to work. Next fall the ground would be like concrete.
We also planted about 12-14 trees along the garden and back along the house. Most of them are fruit trees.

This is the back corner of the property. The fence going away from us in the picture towards the road will also be a privacy fence, so I can store my junk car parts between it and the building. That area will start between the two windows and go the the front of the building. The area just back of the first window and to the right will be the a grass yard. Also just on the other side of the fence you can see one of the Globe Willows we planted.
Also in the picture you can see that I have started on the vinyl siding for
the house. More pictures of that will come.
