..--- New Main & Genoa From Somerset Sails ---
=======================================================
In 2010 we bought new sails (Main and Furling Genoa) from Somerset Sails. I'll start the page with pictures of the new main and will end it with pictures taken when I did the single line reefing mod documented on the page before this one.

An overall picture. In addition to being much newer these sails look way better than the ones we got with the boat..
..
Here the main is up, but reefed at Port Charlotte, FL in 2010 the first trip with them. The 135 Genoa has a radial cut to it and is also from Martin and was trimmed with the same color sunbrella to match the canvas on the rest of the boat.
The following are more pictures of the main from the previous page. We like the new sails a bunch and dealing with Martin is a real pleasure.
........................
Here the new full batten, loose footed main has been hauled up at home on the trailer. Some of the pictures that will follow are at home and some where taken in Florida, the first trip with the new sails. The two arrows point to the single reef point that Martin had put in the main. He told us if we weren't satisfied he could always add a second for us. You can also see the sail pack and lazy jacks in the picture..

Another shot of the reef line with the sail un-reefed.

The reefing block. Some people go through the grommet with the line. We spent a little more feeling that the block lowers friction and that could be important reefing in higher winds.

The reef cheek block at the back of the boom.

Reef line is tied off on the starboard side to cleat.

A fairlead, left arrow, helps to keep the reef line up against the boom. The other two arrows point to the preventer lines that are not in use at the time of the picture and only used running.

Sorry I don't have more pictures of the Genoa, but the one above was taken when I was installing the CDI furler. and you can see it some in the previous picture. It has a radial cut and we had Sailrite drop ship the Sunbrella Ocen Blue material to Martin for the UV protection. He sent us the left over material along with the sails.
We are extremly satisfied with the sails we bought from Martin and Somerset and will buy any future sails we need from him also.
