........................................--- Temporary Stove Install ---

...............

I did this temporary quick mod before we went out the first time to see if we would like it. First I threw the platform together opposite where the old head was located. I took the plunge and trimmed the cushions back on the port side to the same length as the starboard side cushions and folded the covers back under (Ruth will fix that soon). The idea was to store the pots and pans/lids under it and the propane stove on top of it.

...............

Next I made a platform for the stove that would span the gap across the passage way to the v-berth. Remember the head isn't up there anymore so using this space during meal preparation is no big deal. The arrows point to two 1 X 2's that are spaced so that when the platform is in place it is wedged between the sink on one side and the stove support on the port side. It is very stable there.

...............

I wanted the stove secure to the plywood under it and wanted to raise it a little to get the bottle to lay better and ease removing or installing a new bottle easier so I put the stove on 3 legs (arrows point to the front two).

...............

Here the three legs are more visible. They are just three pieces of aluminum tubing with a bolt up through the center. I drilled the top of the stove for the bolts and the stove fits over them and is held on with wing nuts.

...............

Here the stove is out of the passageway.

...............

I painted the platform the day before we left and here the stove is in use. It is very handy to use in this location by sitting on the port seat.

...............

Here it is stored. I added two more bolts that hold the stove and the plywood that it is attached to the platform below it. There are wing nuts on the bottoms of the bolts (arrows). To use the stove spin them off and move the stove around to over the passageway. Under the stove is two tubs with pots, pans and lids.

We are sold on the stove in this location over the passageway while in use. The area in the picture above will be redone nicer in vertical storage up to right under the windows on this side. When the stove isn't in use it will be stored most likely right behind the stairs coming down from the companionway. There will be storage for the pots, pans and lids in a cabinet over the sink area. To the right of the sink will be a cutting board that will lift up and under it will be a tray for all the cooking and eating utensils. The storage that will go in the area in the picture above will be for food.
