........................................................--- Nav. Station Platform ---
This was a simple easy mod that makes the nav. station a lot more comfortable for me. Again sorry, but I forgot to take pictures at the beginning, which was also the end of the construction.
..............
The arrow points to a higher foot area at the nav. station that you rest your feet on while sitting there. I assume they left the floor to the left of it low since that is also the quarter berth there and people could walk up to it without stepping up although that would of made it easier to get into similar to the platform/step at the V-berth on the preceding page.
..............
Again this is just a piece of plywood that is screwed to bottom risers. I added a little angle for looks and the platform wedges in at the left side just behind the bottom of the companionway steps. That is enough to keep the platform from sliding out of this area.
I moved the risers on the right side and back side in a little so that if need be electrical cords, right arrow could go along beside the platform just under the sides of the plywood. These were 110 volt cords we were using in the boatyard while working on the boat and aren't there when the boat is in the water.

We ditched the mattress pad for the quarter berth as we will use the area for storage while on the water. We cut some foam and ruth made a cover for it and that is where I sit working on the computer or plotting a course on the computer that is running charting software. We have been using SeaClear II for this purpose, but I might also start using Open CPN as it has some features now that it didn't have a couple years ago that I like.
The computer is a true 12 volt computer that I assembled and that has worked flawlessly on the Mac and I use it at home. In fact I do all of the site work on it. It is easy to move from boat to...

...boat (in the Mac above) and only uses about 20 watts and that includes the 16 inch monitor above that was less than $75.00 and also runs on 12 volts. We also have a long distance Bullet 2HP radio for WiFi that we have had luck with over 4 miles at times and with the computer, monitor, WiFi radio and the wireless router running the total consumption is just a little over 30 watts. More info on all of that is ( HERE ). At home I run the computer with a 12 volt car battery on a charger under the computer table. Using the same computer everywhere simplifies my life as I always have all of my files and what I'm working on and all past work. We back up to a USB hard drive.

This simple and quick mod has made sitting at the nav. station a lot easier as my feet aren't hanging in thin air.
