______..............___Teardrop Trailer Page 3
Frame -- The following pictures show how I made the frame. It is a dropped frame to give more leg room inside as the kitchen area will be inside like my pop-up trailer. This trailer is 1 foot longer than the pop-up so the bed is full length all of the time with a foot area in front of it and the kitchen counter in front of that..................
Here are all of the main frame pieces cut to length with a chop saw.
.....................
The front (dropped part) of the frame. The side rails and front rail are 2
X 2 X .120 tubing and the two cross members are 1 X 2 X .120 tubing.
......................
Here you can see the front part of the frame welded to the rear of the frame.
......................
The back cross member is 1 X 2 X .120 and the front cross member is 2 X 2 X .120 tubing along with the side members and the vertical pieces that tie the front of the frame to the back of the frame.
.....................
Here you can see the bow in the axle. With this axle I had to weld additional spring perches on the top to run the axle under the springs (in this view it is on top for the low ride position). You can't just turn the axle up side down if it is built with this bow in it.

These Pictures show the gussets in the kick (or dropped) part of the frame to add strength in this area. My pop-up teardrop doesn't have these additional gussets and has had no problems, but I wanted to strengthen this area for off road use.
