Let's tour Purple Sage Trading Post
How about a quick visual tour of Purple Sage Trading Post. The largest part of the store is Native American Arts and Crafts. Most items are Navajo yet we also have some Ute, Hopi, Zuni, Sioux, Santa Domingo and Anglo art. In another part of the store you will find area books on the southwest and it's inhabitants (present & past). We also have a growing area of craft items, such as leather, seed beads, etc.. There is a large selection of herbal supplements (we are the only health food store for 75 miles). If you enjoy music we carry a selection of contemporary music, and a large selection of Native American music. The following pictures will give you an idea of how the store is laid out and and the art and other products we stock.
This is a view of the store as you enter from the front door. Crafts and art items are straight ahead and to the left. On the ceiling beam you will find Navajo Wedding Baskets. Navajo rugs are displayed on ladders around the store and in the replica Navajo Hogan which is in the center of this picture. Most of our rugs are from the northeast corner of the Navajo Nation. The sheep and buffalo in this and other views are handmade by Ray Growler who is a Navajo from Sweetwater, Arizona on the Navaho Nation just south of the store. He is one of many Navajos we buy Navajo folk art from.
